Biography
Dr. Sutherland obtained her PhD in Experimental Medicine at UBC examining genetic susceptibility to severe infections and sepsis in critically ill patients. She completed her residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Toronto and a fellowship in Transitional and Chronic Pain at Toronto General Hospital. She is now a member of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at St. Paul's Hospital. Her area of expertise is on the prevention of chronic pain in post-surgical patients and opioid weaning. To this end she developed a Transitional Pain Clinic for managing post-operative patients at Providence Health Care.
