PHC Researchers funded in Fall 2017 CIHR Project Grant

Congratulations to all researchers who were successful in the Fall 2017 CIHR Project Grant competition! At Providence Health Care, 12 projects received funding. In Canada, a total of 512 projects and 33 bridge grants were funded for a total of $372 million in funding from CIHR. 71 projects are from BC, of which 53 are from UBC. 12 among them are PHC-based.

Beyond Project and Foundation (UBC SPARC event)

UBC Faculty members at all career stages are invited to an information session and discussion on SPARC-supported health research funding opportunities beyond CIHR Project and Foundation Grants.

Topics covered will include other CIHR calls (e.g., Catalyst), and international opportunities such as the US Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the European Commission’s Horizon 2020. This is a repeat of the November 1, 2017 information session held at the UBC-V campus.

CHSPR 2018 Conference: Building Learning Healthcare Systems in Canada

The 30th annual Centre for Health Services and Policy Research (CHSPR) conference, The System Awakens: Building Learning Healthcare Systems in Canada, will take place in March. The conference will address the question of how BC can become a learning health care system, where every patient interaction is treated as a learning activity, and the ethos of the system overall is improvement.

Drawn to your Research: Using Visuals to Improve Academic and Non-Academic Presentations (KT CoP)

The upcoming KT Community of Practice session features SFU's Jason Toal, Interaction Designer, who will share an interactive workshop: “Drawn to Your Research: Using Visuals to Improve Academic and Non-Academic Presentations”. Canadian Webinar Series: Supporting Safe HIV Disclosure

The Canadian Webinar Series on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights is a multi-phase webinar series with a focus on key aspects regarding the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women living with HIV in Canada. The goal of this webinar series is to support implementation of the WHO consolidated guideline on the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women living with HIV.

The Earl W. Davie Symposium

This full-day symposium, in honour of Dr. Earl W. Davie, features presentations by local experts in vascular biology, hemostasis-thrombosis, inflammation, cardiovascular and neurovascular disease and facilitates knowledge exchange between researchers and physicians. This year's symposium focuses on cutting edge advances in the understanding and treatment of hemophilia, thrombosis, and bleeding disorders.

Media 101: Is Your Research Newsworthy?

Do you have a research project that you’d like to share with the public? A research story that you want to tell? Do you have a research breakthrough that you think is newsworthy but not sure where to start?

CIHR Foundation Grant funds researchers at PHCRI

The recent CIHR Foundation Grant competition funded 63 researchers across Canada. Of these researchers, nine are from BC; two of whom are PHCRI researchers: Dr. Lindsey Richardson from the BC-CfE and Dr. Keith Walley from the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation.

Gairdner Symposium 2017

Attend the upcoming Gairdner symposium hosted by Drs. Helen Burt and Michael Hayden from UBC.
