Fondation Leducq Transatlantic Networks of Excellence 2017-2018 - September 5, 2017

The Transatlantic Networks of Excellence Program from the Fondation Leducq provides $6,000,000 over five years to teams of researchers working collaboratively in the areas of cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. The 2017-2018 application cycle has launched.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Research Grants - September 6, 2017

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Research grants are intended to encourage the development of new information that contributes to the understanding of the basic etiology and pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis.

CIHR Fall 2017 Project Grant - September 15, 2017

Please note: Important changes were made to the CIHR Project Grant competition. See the July 10 announcement for details.

CIHR has announced the launch of the Fall 2017 Project Grant competition with the following timeline:

  • Registration period: July 11 to August 15, 2017
  • Application period: August 16 – September 15, 2017
  • Funding start date: April 1, 2018

CIHR will be holding a series of webinars Project Grant: Fall 2017 application. The series will kick off Thursday, July 20, with an aim to provide a brief overview of recent changes and Q&A period.

2018 Gairdner Awards (Call for Nominations) - October 1, 2017

The Gairdner Awards include 5 International Awards for biomedical research, 1 Global Health Award for impact on global health issues, and 1 Wightman Award for a Canadian scientist showcasing scientific excellence and leadership. Each laureate receives $100,000 that they can put towards anything they wish.

P2P Pathway to Patient-Oriented Research Awards - October 30, 2017

Health research teams currently designing a patient-oriented research study are encouraged to apply to the new Pathway to Patient-Oriented Research (P2P) Awards, offered by the BC SUPPORT Unit and Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. These awards help BC-based patient-oriented research teams pilot and test feasibility of their project to strengthen future grant applications.

There will be at least five P2P awards in 2018 up to $20,000 each for a maximum of 12 months.

Researchers who are interested in applying for these awards are invited to attend a webinar led by Dr. Stirling Bryan on September 8th, 2017 from 12:00pm-1:00pm.

Application open date: September 18, 2017
Application closing date: October 30, 2017 at 4:30pm PDT
