Software Programmer/Analyst Co-op position with Providence Research

Position Identification:

Position Title: Software Programmer/Analyst

Location: Providence Research, St. Paul’s Hospital

Duration:  4 months, possibility of an extension

Salary: per month

Description:

Providence Research is comprised of many different researchers with both joint and individual research projects.  Providence hosts a variety of different computational systems and applications.  The student will be working with mostly agile web and database development systems specifically for grant process management.  The work will entail application development and will require accurate documentation of the process conforming to Providence Research policies.  The student will assist with a development team to create, debug and deploy the software applications.  Once the applications pass requirements and testing phase, the applications will be deployed initially in at beta environment and soon after passing qualification, to production.  Additional tasks include support ticket verification in a helpdesk role.  Working with end users to help document in a clear and uniform way any workflow issues. Ongoing training will be provided throughout the term.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good understanding of web and database systems 
  • Experience preferred with:
    • Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, MySQL
  • Benefit knowing:
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Good written and oral skills required
  • Good understanding if data and web security
  • Willing to learn new skill sets
  • Must be detail oriented and able to document their progress
  • Able to work independently and within a team
